THE ARTIST

Missakian is a Canadian contemporary artist with a strong passion for creation, energy, a vibrant style and fantasy. He shares the specific perception and substance that defines a classic Modernist sensibility. He reaffirms the basic and enduring grammar of both Cubism and Fauvism in his use of brilliant, luminous color, his bold handling of paint and his deft organization of elements in a locked-together concentrated space.

Missakian's works have generated numerous solo exhibitions nationally and internationally and can be found in many private and corporate collections across the United States, Canada, Europe, Australia, Japan and Armenia. Currently living and working in Montreal, Missakian is listed in Who's Who in American Art and Biennial Guide to Canadian Artists.

His reputation is established. Missakian's fame and the maturity of his work cross oceans.

His art carries no message and courts no favor from the art world. Instead, like jazz, it pulsates and swirls around us. Always improvisational and expressive, it presents multiple rhythms, life situations, and exuberant allegories.
